Research Project Data Collection 1,2,3 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Research Project Data Collection 1,2,3 - Essay Example The number of ATM uses is presented as a bar chart as shown in Figures A.1, B.1, and C.1. A bar chart is, "â⬠¦a way of summarising a set of categorical data. It is often used in exploratory data analysis to illustrate the major features of the distribution of the data in a convenient form. It displays the data using a number of rectangles, of the same width, each of which represents a particular category" (Easton and McColl). The regression line on the scatter plots indicates the degree of correlation between account balance and the number of ATM uses. The data does not indicate that the number of ATM uses increases when the customer has a debit card (see table D.1). Appendix D indicates that the mean number of ATM transactions declined from 10.35 to 10.23 when the customer had a debit card. The table D.1 in Appendix D also includes the Standard Deviation of the account balance and the number of uses. Standard Deviation is "â⬠¦a measure of the spread or dispersion of a set of data" (Easton and McColl, 1997). The standard deviation is the area around the mean where 95 percent of the data exists. For example, customers with no card had a mean of 10.35 uses and a standard deviation of 4.32. This indicates that 95 percent of the banks customers who do not have a debit card will use the ATM between 6.03 and 14.67 times. In addition, the median use of a customer with no card was also higher than the customer that had a card. These results were different from the theory that a debit card would lead to an increase in ATM transaction. However, Figures A.2, B.2, and C.2 show a strong positive correlation between the account balance and the number of ATM transactions as would be expected. This was true for all customers whether they had a debit card or not. Data could be collected through a variety of mechanisms that each have their strength and weaknesses. If the research

Principles of Microeconomics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Principles of Microeconomics - Essay Example Various distinctive skills brought by the partners can be availed which assist in advancing the progressions of the business. Further, the numerous responsibilities of the business can be efficiently carried out by distributing them among partners. (Hobday I.) Apart from numerous benefits there are some disadvantages faced by the partners. In this type of organization the partners do not possess limited liability and are therefore liable for to repay debts owed by the business. Most importantly, the profits generated are to be shared among the partners, leading to minimized profits per partner. Additionally, disagreements are likely to occur in the business due to the existence of different decisions taken by all partners. Significantly, the life of partnership depends upon the life of its owners. This means that the retirement or death of any one of the partners results in the partnership being ended. The type of management is decentralized of this business which is ensures that the business is not maintained after it is sold off. (Alfred M., 1920) Corporation has numerous pros and cons. The most vital advantage of it is the limited liability enjoyed by the stockholders as the stockholders are a separate legal unit from the corporation which protects them from the liabilities and debts of the business. Additionally, the life of the corporation is independent of the life of its owners. Consequently, the business will keep on working even if any of its owners die or are retired. Moreover, in this type of business the retirement and insurance plans are easy to establish. In addition to this, it is very easy to raise large sums of capital for this type of business by selling stocks. This business involves centralized management which ensures that the business is maintained even after it is sold off. Further, the ownership of this type of organization is convenient and easy to either sell or transfer by selling or transferring stocks. (Alfred M., 1920) On the contr ary, the significant disadvantage of corporation is the probability of taxes being charged twice. This means that the profits generated in a corporation are firstly taxed as income of the corporation and then secondly as income of the shareholder. The formation of corporation is very expensive and complex as several legal formalities are involved in the establishment of a corporation. (Alfred M., 1920) b. The three figure that with Moe's management experience, Larry's salesmanship and Curly's vast fortune, they have the makings for a successful business. Moe and Larry would run the day to day operations and manage the business, while Curly would supply the capital and stay out of management. Further, Curly wants to limit his personal liability to the amount he will invest in the company and does not really care what the tax consequences are. Based on these facts, which form of organization would be best for these guys and why? Ans: The best type of business organization for these gu ys can be limited partnership. This is due to the fact that Curly wishes to enjoy limited liability therefore, being limited partner he can invest large sums of capital into the business and thus protecting himself from paying debts of the business. While the other two partners, Moe and Larry being ordinary partners will invest in the business but will be liable to repay any debts owed by the business. Along with this they will be

Advancements in Nanotechnology Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Advancements in Nanotechnology - Research Paper Example Both nanoscience and nanotechnology represent almost perfect fulfillment of contemporary science for a number of reasons. It has continuously been characterized as a "new Frontier" (Barben et al, 2008), an "emerging field", "emergent, highly interdisciplinary field," a "transdisciplinary research front" and a "rigorous scientific field" with "many signs of protodisciplinarity" (Milburn, 2004). It eradicates the limits between research and development and practical application as well as between science and engineering field, having formed at the intersection of several fields in science and engineering. Since the late 1990s nanotechnology has witnessed extensive investment and attention from corporate and governmental sectors as "a linchpin for creating economic wealth and solving a vast number of societal problems" (Barben et al., 2008, p. 982). Nanotechnology and nanoscience united efforts of governments, venture investors, NGOs, and small enterprises.Bainbridge (2004) explained th at there are two very different nanotechnology movements in existence today. One is closely tied to chemistry, physics and materials science, based in research institutions and working to create actual technical breakthroughs. The other is based largely in science fiction literature, but has a profound influence on the perspectives of people who are not scientists or engineers. Nanotechnology, according to N. Katherine Hayles (2004), has become a potent cultural signifier attracting scientific research, along with entrepreneurial interest, government funding and fictional speculation. It represents "not so much a theoretical breakthrough as a concatenation of previously known theories, new instrumentation, discoveries of new phenomena at the nano-level, and synergistic overlaps between disciplines that appear to be converging into a new transdisciplinary research front" (p.11). Nanotechnology is a relatively new field, but over the past decade it has already strongly influenced the reorganization of the disciplinary landscape of science and engineering worldwide (Schummer, 2007). It is an emergent field "taking form at the interstices of several fields of science and engineering" (Wajcman, 2008) (p. 816). Nanostructures have been studied in a variety of contexts throughout scientific history. Colloidal solutions, block copolymer microdomains, integrated circuits, scanning tunneling microscopes, the molecular and microstructure of steel and aluminum alloys, and the crystal structures of countless proteins and cellular structures provide just glimpses of the numerous nanostructures that chemists, physicists, materials scientists, and biologists have studied for decades (Ozin & Arsenault, 2005). Over the past decades, scientific investigations have grown increasingly broad and encompassing, with many research efforts relying on techniques and insights from neighboring fields to address ever more complex challenges and to pursue ever more enticing opportunities (Foster, 2009). Consequently, a new paradigm of truly interdisciplinary research has emerged that promises to accelerate the generation of knowledge not just at the nanoscale, but in the entire scientific endeavor. Whereas nanomaterials were before simply used and studied as a means to an end, now formally distinct communities of researchers have begun to study nanoscale phenomena as part of a dedicated research effort (Foster, 2009). Because nanoscience crosses such a wide range of disciplines, the challenges addressed, tools employed, and materials created are extensive. It is possible to create general distinctions based on a variety of classifications, though two methods

The Creativity of an Artist - Essay Example Driving the phenomenological aspects as the main core in the creativity of music, the analysis puts into perspective philosophical and psychological elements including the nature of auditory reflection and the expressiveness of music as well. Elements that make music a creative industry and factored by James Aconley include rhythm is the primary and most essential component of musical experience. It covers among others melody, rhythm, and harmony. Reflective experience contains the enabling structure for facilitating musical rhythm. The relevance of musical hearing does not rely on specific types of focus in the auditory experience. In this context, putting much emphasis on the perceptual character of musical experience is against the basic principle that musical experience is a product of creative imagination. James Aconley is both a singer and a performer. He implores much creativity to juggle between the two related but different fields. It is not easy to copy singing because it e ntails composing and passing a specific message to the audience. To succeed, James uses a lot of information from compiled from various perspectives. He sings in many parts of the country and in many events and venues in the United Kingdom. Such venues include many theatres, restaurants and hotels, The CAA in London, parties and weddings, anniversary celebrations, as well as many other functions (Langer, 1953, 33).

Comparison & Contrast Between Two Online Holiday Companies Essay
Comparison & Contrast Between Two Online Holiday Companies - Essay Example This report stresses that lowcostholidays.com is essentially targeting the middle class families who look forward to travelling but have a very limited budget for the same. Kuoni.co.uk, on the other hand, has a different approach and a different feel to the website. The moment we get into the website, it gives a rich appeal and talks about luxury destinations, which clearly implicates their target market. Kouni.co.uk targets the upper class by offering luxury holidays packages with premium pricing which is not affordable by the average middle class families. This paper makes a conclusion that they are still successful with their physical promotion and presence and attract many customers who are looking for relaxations by travelling to some exotic locations. Lowcostholidays.com, on the other hand, is successful in their own way by doing significant online promotions and launching their exclusive application on facebook with the help of Betapond. They have successfully established themselves as low cost solution for travelers worldwide. Sticking to their current market and trying to capitalize on their target customers would help them to continuously be successful in their respective areas.
